Press Statement: Vote at UN Human Rights Council is incompatible with UK policy and international law

Today, the UK voted against a resolution in the UNHRC that calls for an annual update of the UN’s database of international companies operating in Israel’s illegal settlements inside occupied Palestinian territory.

This is incompatible with the UK’s official position that these settlements are illegal.

It is incompatible with international law which holds these settlements to be war crimes.

The UK is actively shielding Israel from accountability. It is an incomprehensible position.

The UK must back measures that hold Israel accountable including for its illegal settlement project, which is detrimental to the two-state solution espoused by the UK and the international community.
